Cum anuntul precedent nu a avut succes, revenim cu un anunt nou pe Jobber si pe eJobs.

Eu habar n-aveam cum se desfăsoara o angajare. Nici din punctul de vedere al unui angajat, nici din cel al unui angajator. Am avut norocul să fiu recrutat de fiecare dată si n-am completat un cv in viata mea. Interviurile pe care le-am avut ca posibil viitor angajat au fost informale, la o bere sau un suc. Unii vor spune că asta e un defect, dar mie imi convine.

Dar am inceput să recuperez pentru ca am zis si noi să angajăm doi oameni si cum în firmă sunt doar doi it-isti, pe ei a picat responsabilitatea de a monitoriza aplicantii la job. Adică pe mine si pe Mihai. Si asta imi da experientă.

Pentru a vă demonstra că nu vorbesc în van vă voi prezenta două concluzii trase de mine in decursul unei luni cât a fost publicat anuntul pe eJobs.

Să pregătim terenul: auzisem povești horror cu taximetristi care doresc să devină programatori php. De asemenea stiu că e la modă să spui că stii "php si mysql" desi n-ai habar de chestii elementare. Asa că am compus un anunt în care am detaliat putin ce ar trebui să stie candidatul pentru a evita oameni care aplică doar de dragul de a aplica. De exemplu: dacă n-ai un portofoliu cu lucrări, fie si personale sau proiecte de facultate, nu aplica. Dacă nu stii ce-i aia DOM sau un template si de ce e rău să amesteci cod php cu html, nu aplica.

Prima teoremă a lui Void: Suntem în secolul vitezei si românii se adapteaza repede la orice, deci si la acest lucru. Drept urmare un anunt de angajare este citit nu complet, nu in diagonală, ci în frânturi de diagonală. Românul a dobândit abilitatea extraordinară de a identifica diverse cuvinte cheie, ca "php" sau "html", fără a citi de fapt anuntul.

Avem nevoie de unul sau doi colegi juniori la Creditlink. Firma este unul dintre cei mai importanți brokeri independenți de credite din România însă ne ocupăm și de dezvoltarea altor proiecte web interesante.

Posturile sunt full time în Bucureşti. Salariu între 400 si 600 de euro.

Cerințe generale:
- Cunoștințe despre arhitectura internet
- Minime cunoștințe *nix (navigare, rulare comenzi, pipe-uri)
- Portofoliu cu minim o lucrare. Pot fi și proiecte personale / de la facultate, atâta timp cât consideri că sunt reprezentative. Candidații fără portofoliu nu vor fi luați în considerare.
- Engleză vorbită acceptabil

Postul 1 - programatorul client side:
- Cunoștințe bune de HTML și CSS
- Interes in web-ul semantic, markup curat
- Javascript si DOM nivel de începător
- Abilitatea de a transforma layout-uri dintr-un format grafic în html
Avantaj dacă ai făcut template-uri pentru Drupal sau Django, dacă ai lucrat cu vreun framework js sau dacă te pasionează subiecte ca mapping sau mashup-uri.

Postul 2 - programatorul server side:
- Php mediu (de exemplu știi ce sunt template-urile și de ce sunt bune, știi ce e un sistem de abstractizare a accesului la un RDBMS, cum se folosesc sesiunile)
- MySQL mediu
- Cunoștințe minime despre apache, servicii web etc
Avantaj dacă ai încercat și ți-a plăcut Python, Drupal sau Django, dacă te pasionează subiecte ca mapping sau mashup-uri, dacă știi principiile de bază ale programării orientate obiect.

I took some time these days to finish the Creditlink website which was lying around in the dreadful "90% done" state for some time.

Nothing extraordinary here. It's built with Drupal (of course), uses aggregator and aggregator2 and had at some point a nice bulk edit node thingy I've built for it (which ended up not being used).

The thing that ate most of my time and nerves for the past two months is finally online, in beta form. Rez.ro offers the biggest database of residential properties around Romania plus news on the subject.

I'll come back with some info on how Drupal was used to build the website.

We had two busy weeks at the office, working on an interesting project we'll unveil pretty soon. Can't say much at the moment, but it's pretty cool.

What I wanted to say is that this project also spawned two Drupal modules I'm gonna release in the next days after some more through testing. They were sponsored by Creditlink.

I talked before about Simple Relationship, something along the lines of the rdf module for Drupal, but simpler. It came up quite nicely, there's some bugs (of course) which I still need to fix but overall I'm pretty happy with it.

Unlike the rdf module this one allows you to link to taxonomy terms or vocabularies as well. Maybe not that useful, but it's good to have the option to do it if you want that. Also, users can also create relationships which describe themselves.

The other module is Lazy registration, which implements lazy registration for drupal. It can create accounts automatically, purge them after a period of time, allow users to make them permanent by either email confirmation or a simple edit to the account. The account is created the first time the user tries to access an area which requires authentification. And there are a couple of other options there which I'll detail when I finally release it.

I only hope I find the time to perform the finishing touches soon.

Yesterday: spent two hours trying to figure out why sFIR makes text soooo small in IE.
Today: spent another hour trying to fix the same thing. Nailed it, in the end. Damn crap browser.

Need I say it worked flawlessly from the first time in other browsers? So, when feeding sFIR a rule which contains ">", IE starts acting weird and ignores the sizes. And because I needed to apply it only to the first children, I ended up modifying Drupal templates to generate the class stitle and not title when displaying lists of nodes.

So, if you're one of the 18.4 % visitors who use IE, please, think of the poor web guys and get a decent browser. Did you know Opera Software just released Opera 9, full of goodies? Come on, give it a try.

Everytime you visit a page with IE God kills a kitten. Please, think of the kittens.

Last week everything went, in a way, wrong. I failed my last exam, the damned Differential equations (fmi sudents will probably shiver just by hearing the name). It was kinda fun to take the exam with the 3^rd year students I was teaching Asp.net one month before. But I've failed it. And this means I won't be finishing university. Not this year anyway.

Other personal problems appeared. Too personal to write about them here.

And then I had to decide what I'll do next. I was lost. And I had to decide.

A while ago, 2 years to be precise, I decided I wanted to teach at the University. Teachers liked me, the doors were open, everything was fine. I wanted to specialize in databases. My skills also qualified me to teach a lot of other things. However, I realised that staying there will be a failure. More about this in a dedicated post to come.

Last week I had to make what was probably the hardest decision for me I had to take. I quit 417. And joined the large group of 8 hours, 5 days a week working men and women.

I started working at the faculty almoust 4 years ago. I still remember going to room 28, timid, and meeting Radu and Cezar. Pulling out my pack of Assos and seeing Cezar smoked the same cigarettes. And bonding with him because of Assos.

I remember cabling the entire math faculty, laying out kilometers of ethernet cables. Spending hours over hours in 413, the junkyard, building Pentium 1 desktops for teachers from mountains of old parts.

Acum ceva timp Creditlink a aparut in Averea. Si a fost frumos.
